Following a pre-established schedule, performs preventive maintenance and cleaning escalators, including checking handrails, steps, combs, contacts, relays, plates, rollers and brakes.
Performs preventive maintenance and adjustments on elevators, including door operations, hydraulic and cable elements, interlocks, relays, hoists and governors.
Inspects for maintenance needs, makes basic repairs to ensure safety, places barricades or signs and notifies fore worker.
Repairs escalators and elevators, determining the exact nature of the malfunction; replaces work parts, including handrails, bearings and electrical components.
Inspects equipment to determine reasons for frequent failures and problems; suggests improvements and works with engineering and other maintenance staff regarding modifications.
Uses diagnostic test equipment and precision measuring devices in the course of the work; performs basic welding as required to complete repairs.
Reads and interprets diagrams, engineering drawings, manuals, schematics and work orders; measures, tests and inspects completed work to confirm adherence to specifications.
Maintains records of work performed and parts and materials used.
Operates District vehicle to reach equipment to be serviced; may operate cranes or other equipment as required for repair; follows proper safety procedures.
Answers patron questions regarding work activities; requests supplies through supervisor or from stock.
Qualifications
B.Sc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 years working experience in a Lift company (OTIS Lift preferably).
