Job Description



We are looking to recruit a Procurement Officer to join our team of professionals.


Job Description:



  • Review, compare, analyse, and seek approval for products of tender to be purchased.

  • Monitor the progress of issued requests until they are transformed into POs and issued to suppliers

  • Monitor the progress of active transactions and conduct service quality assessments at the end of each contract.

  • Develop bid proposals for contracts source for prospective suppliers

  • Research and evaluate prospective suppliers.

  • Prepare budgets, cost analyses, and reports.

  • Ensure that the products and supplies are high quality.

  • Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers and to department originating requests.

  • Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.

  • Expedite all shipments and deliveries and ensure that waybills, delivery notes, etc. are tracked and proof of delivery to end client received.

  • Efficiently plan logistics for purchased items from suppliers to clients, or vessels ensuring that goods are delivered in safe and undamaged condition.

  • Identify and evaluate clearing and forwarding agents, door to door logistics providers for company use, and periodically carry out a re-evaluation of their services against industry benchmarks

  • May be required to physically visit markets, vendors, and stores to purchase goods.

  • Handle all aspects of material logistics, including liaising with clearing and forwarding agents for internal and external procurement services.

  • Handle all importation, customs, and clearing documentation, including identifying applicable product HS Codes, duty rates, processing of Form M, SONCAP certificates, and other clearing documentation.


Qualification Requirements



  • Degree or ND in Marine Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline. Being a member of a professional body is an advantage


Experience



  • Minimum of 4 years post NYSC relevant work experience in marine/energy/oil and gas servicing industry.


Key Attributes & Skills



  • Experienced in sourcing of related marine, energy, oil and gas equipment

  • Good technical knowledge and hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance and repairs

  • Problem solving skills and ability to troubleshoot systems and identify problems

  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

  • Familiarity with INCOTERMS (International Commercial Terms), import & export procedures and documentation, as well as good understanding of processing of SONCAP, Form M and good clearing practices for both air and sea freight.

  • Good network of contacts with logistics service providers.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail
