UpEnergy is at a time of exciting growth, expanding both in terms of product and geographic portfolio. We seek a Climate Finance Associate to play a key role in the origination and financing of our growing VER and ITMO portfolio. The Climate Finance Associate will initially report to the CFO and work closely with other members of senior management to ensure alignment and execution of UpEnergy’s carbon asset strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Project origination and financing support

• Liaise between the relevant teams to gather information required for financial analysis and presentations to financing and offtake partners


• Coordinate reporting to financing and offtake partners, including preparation of project information packages

VER sales and marketing support

• Support the preparation of marketing materials (pitch decks, project fact sheets, etc.) for existing and prospective financing and offtake partners


• Support the preparation and execution of outreach campaigns with the aim to identify new financing and offtake partners


• Support execution of carbon credits sales and delivery

Partner onboarding and relationships

• Screen inbound communications from potential partners


• Own the KYC process with new partners

Market intelligence

• Develop intelligence on carbon credit market transactions, financing, and trends


• Support the maintenance of tools and trackers with up-to-date partner and carbon data

General analytical support

• Carry out financial analysis to support pitching and executing project financings and offtake transactions


• Support the internal financial planning and budgeting process


• Own the Excel tools and trackers used for general business analytics

Desired Skills, Characteristics, and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher


• At least 2 years of experience with carbon offset projects and/or carbon markets


• At least 2 years of experience with financial modeling and analysis


• Experience with VER sales across both spot for forward contracts


• Experience in sales and marketing campaigns


• Experience engaging with stakeholders and managing external relationships.


• Team player with a strong work ethic
