An opportunity has arisen for a Chemist to join the Ethanol production team. The Chemist will perform and manage chemical syntheses in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.
Support scale-up and manufacturing phases of product development including the provision of shift cover as required.
Carry out in-process analysis, including sample preparation and interpretation.
Use test of critical raw materials and intermediates. Participation in and preparation of HAZOP and risk assessments.
Responsibilities
To support the work of the laboratory in the setting up of equipment, preparation of formulation components, and ensure that the environment is to recognized standards
To assist in the conduct of experiments and product formulation activities as directed by the Research Chemist where requested, to research information from external sources to inform formulation projects, as directed by the Technical Manager/Research Chemist
As part of the Laboratory/formulations team, support the technical/production teams in the recording of processes and the collection of data, samples, and internal methods as directed for the allocated projects
To work with the data to analyze and calculate results for specific areas of product development as directed
To work with the production staff when trials/scaling-up activities are taking place at the factory to support the recording of any data/sampling etc. and as part of the team
Prepare specimens for analysis and observation
Conduct specific laboratory tests and record results on the recognized system
Maintain laboratory equipment in a safe and secure manner, reporting any repairs or calibrations necessary.
Candidate Profile
Degree in Chemistry or Industrial / Chemical Engineering
Minimum of three years’ experience in a laboratory
Experience in using formulation/ testing equipment to industry standards
Experience in relevant analytical methods, in particular capillary rheometry and DSC.
Strong commitment to global environmental challenges including the circular economy of plastics.
