BACKGROUND INFORMATION

NIGERIA WAY PROJECT SUMMARY
MEDA’s Youth Entrepreneurship and Women’s Empowerment in Northern Nigeria project (Nigeria WAY) in Bauchi state is a seven-year (2017-2024) project aimed at assisting poor, economically active women, and youth to increase their income, specifically, those who are involved in Agro-processing in the rice, soybean, and groundnut value chains. Using a private sector approach, MEDA Nigeria works with small scale businesses particularly those led by women and youth, to ensure they are included in market systems, supporting Agro-processing with smart incentives. Additionally, the project works with communities and families to improve the environment where girls grow up and join the market economy. The overall objective of the Nigeria WAY project is to increase the contribution by entrepreneurs and small-scale businesses particularly those owned by women and youth to Nigeria’s Economic Growth.
OBJECTIVE OF THE EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
The Nigeria WAY project seeks the services of a regulatory compliance expert to support with Technical Assistance to women/youth entrepreneurs and Small-Scale Businesses in the MEDA target value chains.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Nigeria WAY project through its Smart Incentive and Technical Assistance program has supported women with Business Development Services trainings as well as incentives to support the acquisition of agro-processing technologies to increase the performance of their businesses. To sustain this business growth, the regulatory compliance expert will support these clients with trainings on Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Regulatory Compliance Trainings (specifically Standards Organization of Nigeria -SON) and National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC)) as it relates to the target MEDA value chain.
