Job Description



We are looking for a General Manager to join our Nigerian team. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for:



  • Leading and developing growth strategies, commercial innovation and empowering partnerships to create hypergrowth and leverage in Nigeria.

  • Provide leadership in-country to employees to deliver this goal.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:


Commercial Vision and Strategy Development:



  • Responsible for defining the commercial strategy in our the Nigerian market.

  • Define and implement Go-to-Market strategy in the various countries.

  • Talent Acquisition: Building an effective team to drive partnerships, business development and sales in our markets.


Relationship and Partnerships Development:



  • Responsible for Identifying key partnerships & customers necessary to drive growth 


Commercial Growth:



  • Deliver consistent business and market share growth.

  • Creating new business segments and footprints in the regions to increase revenue.


Product-Market-Fit



  • Work closely with product team to identify gaps in the market and propose products based on market needs while obtaining feedback from customers.


Lead, build and manage the Commercial team (inclusive of business continuity planning and knowledge management )



  • Provide direction to in-country Sales team and guide their work contributions 

  • Plan resource and skills demands including insource / outsource planning ensuring business continuity is kept top of mind and considered as part of demand planning

  • Plan, develop, stand up, support, and promote collaborative tools and techniques such as communities of practice to facilitate sharing of ideas  and  work  among  internal  teams  and  external partners

  • Promote knowledge capture and reuse through operational and business processes

  • Support and promote knowledge transfer sessions within the team and across various business verticals  

  • Actively develop performance and skills of the various team members; participate in career and skills development discussions and support talent development efforts as appropriate

  • Actively support the various talent processes with a view to identify and retain high and top performing colleagues

  • Identify team strengths, skills and knowledge and ensure appropriate and optimal utilisation of talent

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:


Must have experience:


General experience



  • Over 10 years experience in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges

  • Managing operational performance within financial budgets

  • Proven ability to attract new sales and retain existing customers

  • Working within a strategic and accountable leadership role.

  • Experience of owning and managing a P&L, including an awareness of financial reporting tools and the ability to utilise these

  • Knowledge of the payment landscape - in Nigeria (the entire Nigerian market knowledge is a plus).

  • Strong business leadershiptrack record of starting successful businesses or segments.

  • Execution focused - Ability to build effective teams and structures to deliver strategy in the market.

  • Strategic leader - Must be able to define the commercial strategy in the market including Go-to-Market strategies.

Qualifications:



  • A commercial or equivalent degree.

  • An MBA will count in your favour.

  • Depending on the circumstances we may recognise skills and knowledge gained equivalent to qualification if you started your career in a technical role and moved into sales, marketing, growth, and revenue generating leadership roles building deep competence over a period.


Skills:



  • Leadership skills, with experience of motivating, managing, and developing individuals and teams.

  • Ability to drive revenue through commercialisation efforts.

  • Ability to operate across all disciplines managing multiple deliverables against deadlines.
