Job Description

We are currently resourcing for qualified and results-driven Project Engineers at Alpha Mead Development Company. The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Job Summary

The Project Engineers are to ensure that the site activities are fully functional with work carried out at a targeted pace and speed in order to meet planned safety, quality, and schedule targets as well as report all activities to the Project Manager as they occur on a daily and weekly basis.

In order to succeed in this role, the candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills while appropriately prioritizing the completion of these tasks. They are also expected to proactively identify, mitigate, track and report construction issues, risks, and violations while ensuring adherence to approved scope, designs, legal regulations, building and safety codes, and other requirements.

Responsibilities

• 
  

  Ensuring execution of the contract is in compliance with contract scope, specifications, designs, drawings, and timeline and without errors.

  
  


• 
  

  Reviewing the contractor practices and methodologies and initiating remedial recommendations and action where required.

  
  


• 
  

  Working, cooperating, and communicating effectively with the Project Manager, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders in providing assistance and technical support at all times to team members in order to achieve the project objectives.

  
  


• 
  

  Interfacing with contractors' site team on a day-to-day basis and supervising onsite construction completion activities.

  
  


• 
  

  Ensuring compliance and documentation of the company’s approved project QHSE procedures and policies

  
  


• 
  

  Daily reviewing of work progress while ensuring timely report of progress, performance, initiatives, issues, and challenges to the Project Manager

  
  


• 
  

  Assisting in the development of work plans and suggesting methods for project improvement process and increasing efficiency

  
  


• 
  

  Coordinating creatively the resolution of emerging construction-related issues/deficiencies with approval and guidance from the Project Manager.

  
  


• 
  

  Prioritizes multiple tasks effectively to ensure all project data are accurately and adequately captured and archived

  
  


• 
  

  Collating project documentation e.g progress and highlight reports, incident reports, etc.

  
  


• 
  

  Attending project coordination and status meetings and being on-site at all times during the entire phase of the project.

  
  


• 
  

  Obtaining appropriate approval before any change to scope, or specification is implemented on site.

  
  


• 
  

  Participating in the project lesson-learned reviews and providing input to close-out report sections upon completion of work

  Perform other related duties as assigned

  
  

Qualifications

Requirements (Qualifications, Skills and Competencies)

• 
  

  BSc or HND in Civil Engineering, Building, Architecture, or Quantity Surveying.

  
  


• 
  

  3 -5 years proven working experience in construction as a Project Engineer.

  
  


• 
  

  Knowledge of construction and site execution procedures for building and other civil infrastructure projects.

  
  


• 
  

  Knowledge and understanding of construction tools and equipment.

  
  


• 
  

  Knowledge of building codes and construction safety regulations, best practices, and performance standards.

  
  


• 
  

  Excellent organizational, time management, documentation, leadership, and decision-making skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities.

  
  


• 
  

  Proficiency in MS Office and other applicable software

  
  


• 
  

  Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Detailed-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
