• Ensures strict adherence to the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the layer farm to achieve set targets for the farm.


• Oversees the operations of the feed mill, rearing and layer production houses.


• Ensures the welfare of the layer birds by assessing the quality of feeds and care offered, including vaccinations and medications.


• Ensures compliance with relevant health, safety, and regulatory requirements, including biosecurity and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) procedures to prevent the entry and transmission of pathogens in the farms.


• Monitors the performance of layer production and ensure appropriate records are kept for all activities in the farm.


• Recognizes and responds in a timely manner to bird’s health (including diseases) and production related issues.


• Plans and oversees preparation and stocking procedures pertaining to layer farm, rearing and production.


• Facilitates the creation of a conducive work environment for farm personnel and authorised external parties.


• Ensures that operations of equipment and other infrastructures are carried out in the farm in accordance with prescribed operating procedures.


• Ensures high quality, cost-effective and value-added feed products are produced from the feed mill.


• Translates the strategy for the layer farm into actionable annual plans and drives implementation.


• Supports the ESG supervisor in conducting periodic assessments of risks associated with operations in the layer farm in order to design mitigating controls.


• Responsible for preparing the annual budget of for the layer farm.


• Communicates sourcing plan of layer farm inputs, including day-old chicks, feed mill inputs, etc. to procurement team for execution.


• Manages and motivates the team members.


• Observes and evaluates performance of workers to ensure achievement of sectional targets.


• Provides periodic (daily, weekly etc) reports on production figures, inputs utilization figures, mortality and any other required measurable metrics in layer farm.


• Performs any other duty as may be assigned by the COO.

Qualifications

• HND / B.Sc in Animal Nutrition, Production or Veterinary Medicine with minimum of 7 years experience a poultry farm with at least three years experience as a poultry farm manager.
