Job Description



Responsibilities



  • Complete Daily Boat Maintenance Log/Checklist.

  • Effectively operate a tugboat and being competent to push and tow a barge(s).

  • Prepare tools and operate boats and equipment for crew members for the work being performed.

  • Ensure that all vessel equipment are in good working order and ensure that vessel is in clean state continuously.

  • Function in proximity of work areas to anticipate the needs of the crew.

  • Must comply with safety practices, rules, and regulations while executing job duties.

  • Facilitate alignment, movement of boats, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.

  • Assist in performing maintenance as needed.

  • Work as a team and fulfill any and all other duties and tasks as assigned.

  • Steer boats/barges into and out of berths and harbors.

  • Properly and safely fender, moor, and anchor boat/barge.

  • Consult maps, charts, weather reports, and navigation equipment to determine and direct work boats/barge movements.


Requirements



  • Minimum of OND in any relevant discipline and a minimum of 2 years experience as Tug Operator in marine/civil construction projects.

  • Ability to comprehend and effectively communicate using verbal and written instructions.

  • Welding Certification would be an added advantage but not mandatory.

  • Ability to assist construction crew on an as-needed basis.

  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

  • Must possess knowledge of Company policies and procedures, including safety.

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by waterways.

  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as prescribed by standard regulation.

  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and/or supervisors with other duties as required.

  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.

  • Ability to see objects at a distance, at close range, in low light conditions, in the presence of a glare or bright lighting.

  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
