Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical, electronic and control systems equipment.


• Maintenance of lighting levels throughout the vessel to a safe standard.


• Regular maintenance and testing of the emergency lighting system as required by regulations.


• Efficient energy management, to control fuel consumption to best practical level.


• Developing plans for electrical projects such as constructing new facilities or upgrading existing ones.


• Monitoring electrical equipment to ensure that it is working correctly.


• Managing the daily activities of the electrical department, including scheduling work tasks.


• Estimating the cost of materials needed to complete projects.


• Maintenance of emergency systems including emergency switches


• Responsible for taking new hires on training about electrical use and safety protocol

Academic Qualifications

• Minimum of ND, Technical or related Degrees


• Minimum of 10 years experience

• Ability to use a wide range of tools.


• Have high attention to detail.


• Ability to work to strict deadlines.


• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.


• Strong verbal communication skills and possess a tactful, polite and friendly approach.


• Willingness to work away from home during the week.
