Job Description
Oversee and perform advanced level professional Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering function throughout Projects’ and Operations lifecycle in the Organization’s oil and gas processing facilities; – Be the Company’s “go-to-person” for Electrical, Instrumentation and Cathodic Protection related activities.
Job & Main Specifications (Education/Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, Experience & Other Required Details)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chartered Status preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years cognate experience in Electrical Engineering in the Oil & Gas industry particularly in the areas of design (conceptual to detailed Engineering), construction, commissioning, start-up and operations of electrical equipment and installations.
- Proven knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems software, tools and techniques
- Knowledge of relevant national and international regulations, specifications, codes and standards
- Ability to Identify and proffer solutions to Electrical, Instrumentation and Cathodic protection challenges across the facilities.
- Possess knowledge of Caterpillar Engines, Compressors and other electrically driven running equipment
- Highly assertive with effective project management skills
- Knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures
- A team player with excellent analytical, problem solving and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Ability to distil problems, establish evidence-based facts, determine accurate conclusions, make recommendations and take firm decisions
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadline
- Flexible andproactive approach to work andwilling to work outside core business hours as required
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as Company representative for the preparation or review of electrical / instrument design deliverables such as Philosophies, Specifications, Single Line Diagrams, Schedules, Datasheets, and preparation of technical requisitions for long lead items, etc.
- Be the focal point for the resolution of all Cathodic Protection, Electrical and Instrumentation engineering related matters across the Organization’s Oil and Gas facilities.
- Provide Electrical & Instrumentation engineering input to other discipline Engineers to ensure optimal designs and ensure design outputs are consistent.
- Active participation in relevant technical reviews such as Design Reviews, HAZOP, SAFOP, SIL, 3D Model, Constructability, etc.
- Assist in the development and completion of Electrical/ Instrumentation/Controls check sheets and checklists for Mechanical Completions, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning.
- Act as the Company representative (as required) to ensure that design work by contractors meets Company specifications and relevant industry codes and standards.
- Ensure that engineering design and work packages are structured properly for effective execution.
- Evaluate technical issues relating to preparation of proposals, and evaluation of equipment for adherence to required performance criteria.
- Perform Electrical and Instrumentation equipment purchasing tasks, such as vendor bid enquiry preparation, vendor bid analysis and vendor selection.
- Review and approve instrument and electrical equipment vendor technical proposals, drawings, operating and maintenance manuals etc. and attend FAT/shop tests, as needed.
- Assist in the resolution of field problems during construction, assessing field recommendations on change, and in the implementation of efficient corrections that can reduce operational problems.
- Coordinate the scope definition, planning and execution of Electrical & Instrumentation equipment upgrade or modification projects.
- Provide adequate Electrical & Instrumentation technical support to on-going Operations on all Organization’s Operating Assets.
- Interface with other disciplines as necessary, to provide support and resolve challenges.
- Ensure compliance with Company's ISO Quality Procedures, Project Quality Plan and Design Integrity processes and procedures.
- Take full ownership of assigned tasks, while interfacing with other disciplines, departments and business units in order to successfully complete tasks.
