Job Description
The staff will be responsible for investigating and recovering non-performing loans granted to individuals and SMEs. The role requires an understanding of credits, investigative capabilities, street smartness, doggedness, and good negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure assigned budgeted recovery targets are achieved.
- Review all credit files and recommend strategies for recoveries of non-performing loans.
- Undertake regular and frequent calls, site visits and follow-ups to implement remedial strategies and action plans agreed upon.
- Initiate demand letters to all defaulting customers and ensure proper documentation of correspondences.
- Investigate and obtain other information (not available in the flies) on the customers as may be required to aid recovery.
- Recommend accounts for classifications and declassifications and accounts written off-off with justification.
- Schedule and participate in negotiations meetings with customers who want loan workout options such as refinancing, rescheduling, and restructuring
- Follow up on the sale of securities deposited for collateral alongside the legal department after other remedial strategies have been exhausted.
- Follow up on the release of security documents for NPLs which have been fully regularized.
- Monitor Recovery Agents to ensure accounts assigned to them are fully recovered.
- Liaise with external solicitors to ensure that cases referred to them for legal action are handled with efficiency.
- Attend to any other task that may be assigned
Minimum qualifications, Skills and Experience
- 2 - 3 years working experience in a relatable field at the most (at least 1 year in a Finance Company)
- Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in recovery
- Dogged and street smart particularly in Lagos metropolis.
- Good oral and written communications skill
- Great attention to detail and investigating skills
- Good Relationship management skills, and demonstrate the capacity to communicate effectively with clients and team members
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Sciences/Social Sciences or MBA with emphasis on Finance.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
