About the job


The Digital Payments Lead must understand International Payments requirements, and capabilities and identify opportunities for continuous service improvements and innovation. Once identified, deliver the outcome in support of the business. This role requires consistent knowledge of changes in regulations, technology, business needs, and customer demand within the payments industry in Nigeria and internationally.


The successful candidate will be tasked with handling all payments across digital services, 3rd party apps, POS, and ATMs for a newly launched payment product.


Qualification: Bachelor in Computer Science, Finance, or any related course.


Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 years cognate (within the banking or technological payment service system).


Key Responsibilities



  • Ensuring that robust procedures and policies are followed and set operation KPIs are delivered through the teams under your responsibility.

  • Responsible for the training and development of individuals in the business on payment processes and procedures.

  • Managing and developing the payments providers to ensure delivery of SLAs and KPIs in line with set business targets.

  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to the business on performance against set KPIs/goals, as well as, trends that could impact the business

  • Provide robust strategic plans to ensure that the business retains a strong market position and complies with regulatory/license requirements.

  • Work with Treasury, Finance, and Internal Audit to optimize cash positions, identify risks, and ensure mitigation strategies are in place.

  • Manage the roadmap and lifecycle of the organization's products and associated features with Product Managers and business stakeholders.

  • Ongoing analysis of competitors, customers, and product usage and delivery capability to ensure timely delivery of desired products and services

  • Work with key stakeholders regarding the Payments Product delivery schedule from inception through to delivery and ongoing support.

  • Manage key stakeholders including Finance, Operations, Risk and Fraud, Systems Support, and Customer Helplines to incorporate requirements to the platform.

  • Oversees Department User Acceptance Testing for system enhancements and liaises as appropriate with Technology and Change Teams

  • Assume responsibility for ensuring that business-critical tools deliver functionality to achieve the market-leading capability and provide seamless processing capability to staff while mitigating any operational risks.

  • Identifies weaknesses and makes recommendations to enhance the program
