Roles / Responsibilities

Management Accounting:



  • Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

  • Manage outsourced functions

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including managing the organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives

  • Oversee accounting operations of the company and its subsidiaries

  • Create an organizational structure within the accounting department to facilitate the achievement of the department’s short-term goals and long-term objectives.

  • Manage and mentor junior personnel in the accounting department.


Transaction:



  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.

  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly.

  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.

  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.

  • Maintain the chart of accounts and manage GL for accuracy.

  • Management of tax- VAT, WHT, PAYE. Liaise with the company’s tax consultant, auditor, and regulators for efficient tax management.

  • Advise and liaise with Operations on transaction postings to ensure that the correct GL.


Financial Reporting and Budgeting:



  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management account for management and regulators.

  • Issue timely and complete financial statements.

  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.

  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.

  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.

  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.

  • Provide for a system of management cost reports.

  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

  • Ensure that financial reports comply with current accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

  • Publish complete and timely financial statements to company executives, shareholders, and the board.

  • Account for any budget variances and report significant discrepancies to management.

  • Recommend benchmarks for the measurement of company financial performance goals.

  • Responsible for the filing of quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.


Treasury:



  • Understand, manage, and supervise all aspects of cash flow.

  • Forecast daily cash requirements and execute daily financing decisions.

  • Manage all aspects of In-house investment portfolios.

  • Manage long-term and short-term investment strategies.

  • Determine the Company’s goals and risk tolerance.

  • Determine the Company’s tax position and the applicability of taxable/non-taxable instruments.

  • Assess risk/return trade-offs in transactions.

  • Assess performance benchmarks and recommend changes when warranted.

  • Review and recommend changes to the investment policies based on the market conditions.

  • Prepare or monitor company’s various cash flow forecasts and perform financial modelling.

  • Evaluate, develop and implement cash management ystems to optimize efficiencies.

  • Understand and manage appropriate accounting procedures and processes.

  • Manage relationships with financial service providers.

  • Evaluate alternative long-term borrowing strategies and make recommendations in accordance with the capital structure guidelines.

  • Recommend, implement and maintain process improvements.

  • Provide technical and other support for mergers and acquisitions and other projects as needed.

  • Support and participate in the Organization’s Strategic Plan activities.


Processes:



  • Adheres to SLAs and communicates appropriately to internal clients.

  • Ensures that all procedures and controls are fully documented, fit for purpose, appropriately communicated and adhered to.

  • Ensures procedures are compliant with all relevant regulatory and legal considerations and the team is properly trained to carry out such responsibilities

  • Understands, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business.

  • Oversees customer support processes and organizes them to enhance customer satisfaction.


Operations:



  • Comply fully with the relevant Anti-Money Laundering regulations and report promptly any knowledge or sus picion of money laundering activities to the relevant authority.

  • Coordinates with internal departments to ensure that daily work meets organizational standards.

  • Liaises with superior to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals.

  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors/Bankers.

  • Translates the strategic goals into operational plans to achieve the required targeted growth.

  • Reconcile monthly activity, generating year-end reports, and submitting same to management.

  • Maintains archival and financial administrative files.

  • Manage company’s accounts to ensure sufficient liquid funds.

  • Ensure that accounting requests are resolved and communicated in a timely manner to internal and external parties

  • Daily reconciliation of all internal ledgers to ensure accuracy.

  • Ensures timely resolution of all client complaints in line with the agreed turnaround time.

  • Keeps records of all company’s fixed assets and ensures industry standard is maintained.

  • Responds to requests to implement on a timely basis all internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.


Compliance:



  • Provide regulatory reports to compliance department for rendition

  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit

  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants

  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.


Key Competence Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree with 8 - 10 years work experience.

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting standards- IFRS and IAS

  • Use of EasyBank Application

  • Strong analytics and problem solving skills

  • Vast across accounting and finance spectrum- Financial, Management, Tax, Audit and financial investigation

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites Word, Excel and Access.

  • Able to work well in a team and on own initiative.

  • Database Management

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Energetic and with sound decision making skills
