  • Holds a B.Sc. (Crop Production, Agronomy, Crop Protection, Plant Science, Plant Breeding or any other Agricultural related field)

Seed Production Officer responsibilities shall include:



  • Select and contract seed hectarage based upon internal demand and forecasting.

  • Negotiate and coordinate grower contracts.

  • Manage production of high-quality seed in budgeted quantities for domestic and international markets.

  • Manage seed production costs to ensure agreed-upon profit margins.

  • Ensure support for training and technical backstopping for farmers.

  • Identify and test new production areas to ensure production supply

  • Collect and analyze spatial data

  • Maintain Production related databases

  • Ensure field scouting and harvesting meets quality standards.

  • Monitor and initiate seed production grow-out test to ensure product integrity and quality.

  • Visit trials to evaluate product field performance.

  • Coordinate the delivery of stock seed to support production orders.

  • Maintain and acquire crop phytosanitary certifications.

  • Work with Customer Care and Processing to ensure seed delivery meets the production schedule.

  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders regarding the status of productions.

  • Set department goals and productivity standards and enhance efficiency.

  • Participate and engage in Product team meetings

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Evaluate and troubleshoot current production system for our seeds

  • Conduct research through test plots to systematically improve our production system

  • Develop seed and soil fertility programs and monitor the effectiveness of the programs throughout growing season

  • Assist breeders on breeding tasks

  • Manage quality control for crops during harvest and throughout storage process

  • Annual year end analysis of production cycle

  • Crop inspection and documentation

  • Oversight of grid soil sampling and disease prevention programs

  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly reports
