Job Description
The Research Officer will be part of the Office of the Chief Economist team and will report to the Chief Economist. S/he will be responsible for conducting research, reviewing articles submitted to the Bank thereby providing insights and up to date content for the Banks intellectual materials and newsletters. S/he will support on sustainability reporting as well as M&E reporting.
Responsibilities
- Provide support in the identification of market demand and market opportunity to contribute to the growth of the institution
- Assist in preparing presentations and speaking notes as required.
- Contribute to original articles in the working paper series of the Bank.
- Collaborates in the preparation of quarterly technical reports
- Assist in the maintenance of research database and intellectual materials of the bank.
- Analyze and resolve research issues in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support on an ad-hoc basis M&E analysis and reporting.
- Support on an ad-hoc basis for Sustainability activities
- Conduct regular market survey/competitive analysis of the industry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Social Science or equivalent. A master’s degree is a plus
- Preferably have 1 – 5 years’ experience in banking or/and microfinance sector
- Experience in field research, data collection and analysis and report writing
- Good at research methodology & procedure
- Good command in English
- Be able to communicate well with all staff, local communities, and authority
- Ability to perform task with minimum supervision
- High motivation, initiative, willing and able to travel
- Good computer literacy (MS Office, SPSS, Stata, or other analysis applications)
