- Perform land and hydrographic quantity surveys, construction layout and GPS guidance in support of beach fill, reclamation, maintenance dredging projects etc.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide shore and dredge with accurate surveys and vessel positioning to ensure accurate measurements and correct location of excavation and or fill, as per contract
- Provide Land and hydrographic surveys required for project monitoring and payment quantities
- Responsible for the care of land and hydro survey equipment
- Maintain accurate survey notes and documentation of survey activities
- Coordinate survey activities with the Project Engineer to meet schedule requirements
- Provide daily support of project procurement requirements
- Assist in the generation of daily reports and assembly and maintenance of proper job records
- Provide support in the maintenance of survey vehicles and equipment assigned to project
- Follows company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” work environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred) in related field or a combination of education and related experience
- 5 years of progressive experience in land and hydro surveying experience
- Must be proficient with GPS systems
- Should possess strong computer skills and be proficient in the use of, Eco Sounder, auto levels, laser levels, total stations, base stations, rovers and file conversions used in setup of GPS machine guidance systems.
- Ability to accurately read contract drawings
- Ability to conduct earthwork volume computations
- Must be able to operate independently and supervise crew.
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work 7 days a week while on site.
- Ability to live aboard vessel for full rotation
- Ability to work 12hr per day shift.
Required Certifications or Licenses:
- B.Sc in Survey or related fields
- SURCON membership ( is an added advantage)
- Proficiency in Project Management ( is an added advantage).
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels
- Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders that have capacity limits of 300 lbs.
- Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
