Required Qualifications
5+ years of related experience working in energy or infrastructure project development, environmental or energy consultancy, telecommunications, or a related field
Motivation to work in the renewable energy industry, particularly the distributed generation / off-grid sector
Experience working in rural Nigeria with established connections to key energy, environmental or telecommunications regulatory agencies
Professional fluency in English. Expert and professional communicator in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Primary Responsibilities
Establish and maintain personal relationships with energy permitting officers of regulatory agencies to drive successful licensing of CBE’S TESCo portfolio of projects across rural Nigeria
Support the Regulatory Affairs teams at CBE to refine our understanding of the licensing roadmap for TESCo projects based on legal advice and consultations with local stakeholders in Nigeria
Support the team to effectively use permit checklists, flagging areas where items are missing or not meeting stated requirements
Draft and update permit application documents to meet CBE standards, leveraging input from the regulatory, ESG, and project development and technical teams where required
Prepare digital application files for CBE license and permit submissions across over 20 Nigerian states, including site-by-site approvals where needed
Consistently, accurately, and clearly captures project licensing knowledge and data. Transmit this knowledge to the team through existing tools and procedures in accordance with internal and external reporting deadlines
Follow up with relevant government agencies and entities – in person when required – to streamline application processes (where possible) and minimize delays to project development timelines
Honour Cross Boundary's code of ethics around compliance and anti-bribery in every aspect of the role
Identify potential external agencies with which CBE can partner to grow our regulatory resources in Nigeria. Support CBE Contracting and onboarding of these resources.
Once the team is established, lead this team to drive progress in this workstream, whilst maintaining links and participating within CBE’s wider regulatory team.
