Job Description
As Investment Associate role holder, you will be responsible for defining all relevant investor & investment relations information related to mergers and acquisition, and capital raising. You will be required to liaise with internal stakeholders to facilitate internal reporting requirements and investor requests. Also, this role will spearhead the functions directly related to the CEO’s office.
Responsibilities
Investment Relations
- Assist in the identification and sourcing of potential acquisition targets and investments
- Conduct market research and financial analysis to evaluate the strategic and financial fit of potential targets
- Support the due diligence process, including gathering and analysing financial, legal, and operational information.
- Prepare and present investment recommendations to the company’s leadership team.
- Support the negotiation of transactions and assist in the coordination of closing activities.
- Facilitate the integration of acquired businesses and monitor the performance of investments.
Investor Relations
- Support the Founders with the end-to-end process of organising and managing capital raising processes, preparation of due diligence materials, addressing questions from investors as well as negotiations and fund documentation preparations
- Identify potential investors and develop proper points of contact, both direct and indirect, in order to develop direct relationships for capital raising
- Initiate calls and physical meetings with investors to explain investment opportunities
- Effectively articulate the investment philosophy and strategy to potential and existing investors
- Participate in investment, valuation and risk management processes
- Prepare investor proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals
- Maintain internal models of the company, such as the forecasts and 3-statement projections
- Focus on deal monitoring and reporting – performance reporting for annual and interim reports to meet investor deadlines
- Assist the Founders with strategic decisions and business initiatives associated with fundraising and investor relations.
- Build a network of institutional investor relationships as a foundation for future capital raises
- Participate in organising investor due diligence, subscription, and closing.
- Develop and manage communication protocols for all boarded investors, including distribution of periodic performance updates and financial information.
- Preparation of due diligence responses, meeting agendas, etc.
- Produce deliverables for communication with existing and prospective investors;
- Maintain and update information on existing investors, including contact information, investor activity, and portfolio construction planning, and communicate this information internally;
- Develop a thorough understanding of investors’ investments and activity in order to competently represent the firm and report to investors
- Manage certain levels of investor communication such as transaction announcements (new deals, add-ons, exits);
- Work with the Founders and external consultants to optimise and maintain the Vendease brand.
Other Responsibilities
- Draw up insights on the effectiveness of the marketing and communication strategies as it relates to the organisation’s strategy.
- Collaborate with the relevant marketing and Communications team to ensure effective implementation of strategies for business growth.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure the identified market insights provided are relevant to the business expansion requirements.
- Explore opportunities and strategic partnerships that increases brand positioning
- Drive successful implementation of the CEO’s projects
- Monitor work efforts of the CEO’s direct reports, identifying resource needs, performing quality reviews; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately.
- Oversee the tactical execution of the CEO’s projects handled by the EA/Project Assistant and the Marketing & Communications team.
- Develop and manage the Corporate Development department’s annual budget
Requirements
Knowledge & Skills:
- Previous track record of working on successful mergers and acquisitions or capital raising
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and experience in financial analysis and modelling
- Demonstrated ability to interpret data to derive business insights
- Good knowledge of the local and international financial markets
- Experience with leading due diligence processes and analyses
- Super smart and very switched on
Experience & Education:
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or other relevant field.
- The equivalent of the same in practical experience is also acceptable
- 3 - 5 years of related experience in an Investor Relations role in an Investment Bank or similar industry
