Responsibilities



  • As a quantity surveyor, you'll seek to minimize the cost and risk of a construction project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required legal standards and quality. This includes ensuring statutory building regulations are met.


Role Responsibilities



  • Identify potential financial and construction risks.

  • Document progress, materials, and reports on projects.

  • Advise on property taxes, regulations, and local laws.

  • Document changes in project design and update budgets

  • Assist in establishing client’s requirements and undertake feasibility studies.

  • Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies to ensure their proposals will work.

  • Prepare and analyze project costings for tenders, such as materials, quantities, labor, and time.

  • Perform risk, value management, and cost control during construction.

  • Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.

  • Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks.

  • Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes.

  • Analyze outcomes and write detailed progress reports.

  • Value completed work, oversee bills, and arrange payments.

  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use

  • Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.

  • Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks.

  • Assist in preparing tenders and contract documents including bill of quantity with the Project Managers, design department, and/or client.

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

  • Factor the implications of health and safety regulations into contracts.

  • Prepare summary reports for the client and other stakeholders.

  • Value completed work and schedule payments to suppliers and contractors.

  • Advise on outstanding contractual claims and schedule payments.

  • Prepare and send regular progress reports, especially as regards project cost


Requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying

  • Work experience in engineering, estimating, or finance field is advantageous.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Quantity Surveyor role

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to organize, plan, and strategize
