Job Description



ROLE PURPOSE:



  • The Safety and Security Assistant will work closely with the Safety and Security Coordinator and the Head, Safety and Security (HoSS), in the country office to provide support for the implementation of SCI programs in the Country Office (CO) and across the Nigeria Mission.  He/She will facilitate the implementation of SCI safety and security management and contribute to building country compliance with safety and security Essential Standards.


KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:



  • Assist the HoSS, SSCo on the regular collection and collation of all S&S information across the mission and compute same in the system, using appropriate software and hardware.

  • Assist the CO SS Dept in trip planning activities from trip requests, movement tracking/records, follow-up on travel SoPs compliance, movement tracking/timing and file a trip completion records and report trip stoppages and hitches for immediate follow-up.

  • Assist the CO team in the preparation of Safety and security related reports.

  • Collect/collate and report up-line, safety and security related incidents internally and externally.

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of S&S trainings and programmes in the CO.

  • Monitor Fleet activities and report on all breaches.

  • Carry out any other duty/responsibilities assigned by the SSCo and the HoSS aimed at effective S&S management in the Country Office.

SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS

  • Basic knowledge of Fraud and criminal investigation procedures and methods.

  • Strong proficiency in the use of Office programs like word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

  • Nose-for-news’ and ability to spot flaws in systems.

  • Have good communication and presentations skills.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES



  • Degree level qualifications in any of humanities or sciences and Security management.

  • At least one year work experience performing Safety and security functions.

  • Strong learning attitude and capacity for learning and development of technical and professional skills.

  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an internationally diverse environment.

  • Strong Competency in Internet and Microsoft Office systems and other database/mapping systems

  • Fluency in English and any other Nigerian local languages.
