Summary of Responsibilities



  • The Accountant is responsible for providing financial, administrative services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial operations.

  • She/he must comply with established accounting policies and procedures. He is also given the responsibility of financial planning and record keeping of all the account.

  • An Accountant is responsible to look after the financial aspect of the company.


Job Description



  • The main purpose of an Accountant is to analyze financial activities

  • Collect invoices/bills and make payments ensuring the prevailing financial rules and regulations of Practical Action

  • Prepare bank drafts and arrange for fund transfers against the payment of instalments to partners and other service providers as necessary

  • Calculate tax and other deductions to deduct from the source while making payment

  • Process the travel and other expenditure claims complying the policies and procedures

  • Prepare Payroll and make salary payment on time and provide salary transfer notice to staff members

  • Enter financial data into computerized accounting system and run reports

  • Provide accounting services to the concerned, especially the status of budget and expenditure

  • Keep Practical and informed of changes to accounting system, structure and procedures through training/presentation

  • Keep financial documents and records to meet the Group and subsidiaries requirements

  • Keep liaison with the bank and other government institutions in Finance functions

  • Review General Ledger.

  • Posting of month end Journals.i.e. Depreciation, Amortization e.t.c


Qualification



  • First Bachelor's Degree / HND in Accounting or Business-related field.

  • Possession of an MBA or equivalent will be an added advantage.

  • Professional qualifications in Accounting (ICAN, ACCA etc.) is an added advantage


Experience:



  • Minimum of 5 years relevant post-graduation experience across various industries.


Skills:



  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of finance and accounting functions.

  • Financial Management

  • Strong analytical and critical reasoning skills

  • Project Planning, Reporting & Control

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office suite and internet resources.

  • Attention to details
