JOB ROLE

The school Security Head is responsible for overseeing the security and safety of students, staff, and facilities within a school.

Reporting

The head of school and the school board

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Developing and implementing security policies and procedures


• Conducting security assessments and audits


• Supervising and training security personnel


• Monitoring and controlling access to the school premises


• Responding to security incidents and emergencies


• Coordinating with law enforcement agencies as needed


• Conducting investigations and maintaining records of security incidents


• Communicating security protocols and procedures to students, staff, and parents


• Managing security equipment, such as CCTV cameras and alarms


• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of security trends and best practices


• Working with appropriate departments to meet operational security needs within budget;


• Assisting in the development and implementation of security plans for special events.


• Advises and assists site-based administrators in matters involving criminal activities on school campus.


• Coordinating with site-based administrators, Maintenance and Facilities Departments to address and correct safety/security issues in the school.


• Preparing memos, reports, drawings, etc. related to safety and traffic issues on school campus; presenting them to appropriate school directors.


• Receiving all reports of school crime from site-based administrators and maintains statistics regarding this information.


• Communicating with media on involving school safety.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in related discipline


• Minimum of 10 years in similar position


• Security Training Programs or other comparable training programs


• Tactical Response Training


• Emergency Management Certification


• Technology savvy


• Excellent oral and written communication skills


• Excellent report writing skills
