About the Job



  • Our client is looking to hire an experienced and driven Managing Director to effectively direct and control all operational functions and give strategic guidelines in ensuring that the company becomes a leading player in the asset management space in Nigeria.


Key Responsibilities



  • Design and execute both short term and long-term strategic road maps for the business especially the towards the achievement of Assets Under Management (AUM) target of the business.

  • Lead the identification of target market segments and develop appropriate investment management products for growth.

  • Ensure the management of a well-bonded team to achieve optimum performance.

  • Generally, see to the smooth and profitable running of the operations of the firm in order to meet the company’s targeted financial liquidity goals/objectives.

  • Have primary responsibility for the company’s business development, client acquisition, and AUM growth.

  • See that the day-to-day activities and affairs of the company are appropriately managed and define appropriate performance metrics

  • Formulate policies and propose actions that lead to the creation of value for all stakeholders of the company.

  • Develop and recommend to the Board annual business plans, capital and operating plans, and budgets that support the company’s long-term plan and strategies.

  • Oversee the company’s achievement and maintenance of a satisfactory competitive position within the asset management sub-industry.

  • Take steps to build an effective management team below the level of the CEO, and oversee the company’s action plan for management’s development and succession.

  • Manage relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and other partners

  • Facilitate and present periodic business performance review reports to the Board.

  • Participate in other Executive Management Committees and other related tasks.


Required Qualifications / Skills / Competencies



  • B.Sc or BA with a minimum of Second-Class Honors (Upper Division).

  • An MBA or any other related professional qualification is an advantage

  • Must be SEC registered as a sponsored individual

  • Minimum of 12 years diverse experience with at least 5 years in the Investment Management or Investment Banking

  • Excellent knowledge of the Nigerian Capital Markets and SEC rules and regulations

  • Leadership: Inspires and leads others towards high levels of performance.

  • Problem Solving and Analysis: Ability to analyze complex policy issues, draw correct conclusions, and articulate a clear and focused policy to wide and diverse audiences.

  • Relationship Management: Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders and commercial enterprises to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals

  • Strategy Formulation: Ability to (a) to take a broad-based view of issues and events, and understand their longer-term impact or wider implications and (b) translate strategies into strategic and operational activities

  • Good product development and portfolio management capabilities.

  • Business Development: Strong selling and broad business development skills.
