Our client is an asset management firm dedicated to leveraging partnerships for value, investing in Africa’s infrastructure. Due to expansion, they are currently in need of a GENERAL MANAGER for a truck services start up company.
Job Objective/Summary
Technical expert responsible for managing and directing the company's facilities towards achieving profitability. Incumbent must have a solid background in heavy equipment maintenance & management, workshop handling, Quality Management System, troubleshooting, P&M Costing & Data analysis. Dedicated to productivity and an agile mindset while developing and enhancing best practices.
Job Responsibilities:
MAINTENANCE, REPAIR & OPERATION OF EQUIPMENT AND VEHICLES
- Troubleshooting (and attending to breakdown) of Major & Minor truck and related equipment.
- Planning, Monitoring & Execution of Scheduled Maintenance & Preventive
- Maintenance of machinery to increase the effectiveness & productivity.
- Spares procurement for maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles.
- Tyre Management System monitoring for all vehicles and equipment.
PEOPLE & ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT:
- Effective monitoring of hired assets’ productivity and efficiency to achieve goals.
- Provide mentorship for juniors and handles driving desired performance
- outcomes.
- Executes current and long-term objectives, plans and policies, approved by the board
- of directors.
- Advises, guides, directs, and oversees major plans and facilities procedures,
- consistent with established international standards and board approval.
- Establishes, facilitates, and maintains an effective system of communication between key stakeholders: clients, transporters, sponsors, and board.
- Represents the company's facilities with major customers, shareholders, the financial community, and the public.
ISO IMPLEMENTATION, DOCUMENTATION & DIGITALIZATION
- Takes responsibility for Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015) Implementation for all machinery related work.
- Responsible for Digitalization at site and regularly monitoring equipment data quality.
- Ensures the adoption of key technology for efficient record-keeping (EDMS, HRMS).
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.Eng.) from four-year college or university
- 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Eight of which must have been in management positions in a technical role
- Experience with analysis and interpretation of documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Experience working with a start-up.
- Understanding of the Nigerian Logistics Industry.
- Project development and management experience
- Experience working in a similar role with evidence of successes/achievements
