JOB DESCRIPTION: -
- Designs, reviews and appraises the soundness, effectiveness, and proper application of accounting, operational and financial controls
- Conducts and directs audits and ongoing reviews of organization controls, operating procedures, and compliance with policies and regulations, compliance procedures and controls and timeliness of documentation generation.
- Responsible for implementing, directing and overseeing the auditing and compliance programs
- Directs and appraises the activities of audit and compliance personnel
- Compiles and issues reports detailing conclusions and providing recommendations for improvements based on the results of his findings either during periodic or spot checks
- Assesses the adequacy and extent of programs designed to safeguard organization assets....
- Recommends employee training and modifications to procedures as needed
- Designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organisation, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur
- Performing a risk assessment: Analysing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the company
- Performing a risk evaluation: Evaluating the company’s previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the company such as costs and legal requirements
- Establishing the level of risk the company is willing to take
- Risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience. (Educating the board of directors about the most significant risks to the business; ensuring business heads understand the risks that might affect their departments; ensuring individuals understand their own accountability for individual risks)
- Explaining the external risk posed by corporate governance to stakeholders
- Creating business continuity plans to limit risks
- Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the company.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a degree or its equivalent
- Must be a Chartered Accountant with at least 3 years’ experience in the Finance/Micro Finance Industry.
- Must have good analytical/problem solving skills
- Must have good oral & written communication skills
