JOB DESCRIPTION: -



  • Designs, reviews and appraises the soundness, effectiveness, and proper application of accounting, operational and financial controls

  • Conducts and directs audits and ongoing reviews of organization controls, operating procedures, and compliance with policies and regulations, compliance procedures and controls and timeliness of documentation generation.

  • Responsible for implementing, directing and overseeing the auditing and compliance programs

  • Directs and appraises the activities of audit and compliance personnel

  • Compiles and issues reports detailing conclusions and providing recommendations for improvements based on the results of his findings either during periodic or spot checks

  • Assesses the adequacy and extent of programs designed to safeguard organization assets....

  • Recommends employee training and modifications to procedures as needed

  • Designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organisation, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur

  • Performing a risk assessment: Analysing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the company

  • Performing a risk evaluation: Evaluating the company’s previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the company such as costs and legal requirements

  • Establishing the level of risk the company is willing to take

  • Risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience. (Educating the board of directors about the most significant risks to the business; ensuring business heads understand the risks that might affect their departments; ensuring individuals understand their own accountability for individual risks)

  • Explaining the external risk posed by corporate governance to stakeholders

  • Creating business continuity plans to limit risks

  • Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the company.


EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Must have a degree or its equivalent

  • Must be a Chartered Accountant with at least 3 years’ experience in the Finance/Micro Finance Industry.

  • Must have good analytical/problem solving skills

  • Must have good oral & written communication skills
