Job Description: Health, Safety and Environment Officer
- Clear capacity to identify and manage risks and hazards for solar PV Installation, construction and operation sites (rooftop, ground mounted and floating)
- Investigate and report all incidents, accidents and near misses and ensure all relevant site documentations are updated daily
- Monitoring the performance progress of the health of the workforce and report back to the HSE Coordinator
- Conduct safety induction training for workers/labourers (both permanent and short - term employees) and ensure pre-employment medical examinations are done
- Coordinates and assists Site Manager/Supervisor with Incident/accident Investigations to determine root cause and recommend appropriate corrective actions and preventive actions in order to maintain a healthy working environment
- Conduct regular Health and safety awareness training including Tool box talks for workers
- Support in the management of medical screening and sickness absence
- Leads by example to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
- Accountable to continually reinforce safe behaviours and correct “at risk” behaviours.
- Adheres to and ensures all site team members understand standard operating procedures.
- Leads and supports the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilising the system in place.
- Submit, accurately all site reports on a daily basis to the HSE Coordinator
- Requirement:
- A Bachelor’s degree in an environmental science/engineering, Health & Safety Environment Engineer, Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent qualification in NEBOSH IGC or IOSH Managing safety professional certificate.
- Expert in construction safety management system especially for working at height activity & rescue and electrical safety management.
- Native speaker of Hausa language, advanced level of English, both written and spoken
- Valid certification in firefighting, first aid and other relevant safety trainings
- Two (2) or more years of Construction Industry Safety experience
- Two (2) or more years of Renewable Energy Safety experience
- Good capacity to train and evaluate competency of workers
- Candidates must be adept at using MS Office (Word, Excel and PPT)
