Job Responsibilities


Strategy Formulation & Execution:



  • He/ She will be responsible for formulating the strategy of the business and full strategy execution consistent with the strategy implementation plan.

  • He/ She will ensure that all unit heads follow the planning framework in coming up with sub-plans and business improvement plan that are also aligned with the business strategy.

  • The business manager will coordinate the unit heads in ensuring 100% alignment of their daily activities to the business improvement plan.

  • He/ She will be responsible for the proper functioning of the governance framework of the company (executive management, senior management, and general management) and a seamless of succession planning for mission critical positions for a smooth running of the business.

  • He/ She is also responsible for the development of relevant structures (people, process and systems) to support the achievement of the company's vision and goals.

  • He/ She will establish mutually beneficial relationship with NSDC, organize face to face meetings, including press releases, reports and social media updates.

  • The business manager will be responsible for the financial health of the business and thus responsible for driving the organization towards the achievement of the goals set in the financial control levers by championing the development of policies and strategies for effective financial management, ensuring.

  • The business manager will be responsible for coordinating the daily activities of the business and provide leadership to direct reports and entire team

  • He/ She will work closely with the stakeholder engagement lead, project stakeholders across local authorities, federal government, statutory and non-statutory bodies, land & property, communities, and other parties to establish strong relationships.

  • The BM will be responsible for driving corporate culture through shared vision and team building activities. Thus, motivating staff to accomplish business goals and objectives of the company.

  • The BM will be responsible for ensuring that all processes and guidelines of the company are religiously adhered to and responsible for continuously seeking out ways and means of improving on all the processes and guidelines related to all the units of the Company through process improvement plans he will be expected to prepare and execute yearly.

  • The BM will be responsible for expanding the company’s footprint, oversee the formulation and implementation of effective go to market strategies to achieve sustainable growth in customer base, market share, efficiency of marketplace sales and profit.

  • He/ She will perform other tasks as assigned by the Group Managing Director & Board of Directors

  • He/ She will ensure performance management in the company is done when due.

  • The BM will ensure proper and accurate reporting is done to the Board and other stakeholders.


Job Requirements



  • Degree in Agriculture or relevant subject, MBA will be an advantage

  • 15 - 20 years of relevant professional experience in a similar role and environment.

  • A minimum of 10 years at Business Management Level.

  • Deep understanding of sugar business across West Africa.

  • Strong business acumen and ability to identify and convert opportunities.

  • Ability to identify and drive organizational and cultural changes needed to adapt strategically to changing demands.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with others, as well as work in a cooperative and respectful manner with colleagues, interconnected groups and the wider community.

  • Knowledge and experience of agricultural operations, imperatively in the sugar business, in Africa

  • Goods knowledge and use of Microsoft Office packages & ERP systems (Knowledge of Navision& SharePoint will be an added advantage).

  • Ability to address and analyze problems and to develop strategic responses.

  • Ability to plan strategically and successfully lead growth within an organization.

  • Excellent communication, business presentation, persuasion, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to protect the reputation of self and organization and maintain integrity and professional standards.

  • Strong leadership, supervisory and people management skills.

  • Ability to work with a startup team, build competence, get the team to focus on achieving the business goal with available resources.
