MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB
To ensure alignment and contribution to the objectives of the various organizations in the Group, the Innovation Manager will have to collaborate closely with the various executives in the organizations. He or she will also drive the implementation of specific innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives at the various organizations and will handle the related operational, financial and reporting aspects.
The Innovation Manager will direct, administer, and coordinate innovation and entrepreneurial activities in accordance with policies, goals, and objectives established by the Group.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES/KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Overseeing the progress and successful completion of innovation projects, contributing towards dissemination and communication activities managed by the innovation hub, coordinating efforts to implement standard operating procedures and key performance indicators relevant to the innovation hub, and coordinating the administrative and financial requirements for innovation proposals preparation.
- Network and attract new collaborations, including the identification of new opportunities for technology transfer, Intellectual Property (IP), and entrepreneurship stemming from L-Hub’s research activities, and liaising with industrial partners and stakeholders to develop collaboration opportunities based on the objectives and goals of the Hub.
- Drive the L-Hub into an active and productive enterprise, including the development of partnerships with various organizations in the Group, supporting their innovation strategies.
- Drive the L-Hub operational excellence to deliver on the L-Hub KPIs.
- Manage operations, administration, and reporting of the innovation and entrepreneurship activities implemented at the L-Hub.
- Manage project-related procurement and annual reporting.
- Track quality, operational excellence, customer success metrics, monitor budget and follow up on project spending.
- Provide regular updates to L-Hub Steering Committee and executive management including analytics, dash boarding, forecasts, and business presentations.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
M.Sc. degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM); a PhD is an asset; deep knowledge of digital is an asset.
Experience:
- Experience in innovation management in business and technology hubs with international exposure for 4+ years.
- Business acumen with a track record of delivering results; Experience in business development, sales, start-up/scale up.
- Experience in innovation is an asset.
- Proven track record in partnership and innovation management, opening doors to corporate customers, experience working with C-level executives.
- Working experience in both Nigeria and other countries, preferably Africa is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial/hands-on way of working and effective in execution.
- Operational excellence and attention to detail.
Languages: Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of stakeholders are required.
