Job Description



Main Tasks


Local Lead of key Business Development (BD) activities:



  • Lead country specific BD activities, coordinating with Global BD role, Country Director (CD), Regional Programme Manager (RPM) and relevant technical leads

  • Coordinate the assessment of business opportunities in the country with international donor agencies and foundations.

  • Lead the development ofhigh quality proposals for donors, together with Program and Institutional Donors and Philanthropy (IDP) colleagues as well as in-country partners;

  • Manage the implementation of new processes and systems, including strategic forecasting and anticipative approaches to identify strategic funding opportunities, and possible strategic and consortium partners for the country office

  • Perform eligibility reviews of new business opportunities and understand the key questions that need to be answered in line with CBM policies and procedures and mandates that will lead to a final decision on the new opportunity.

  • Lead the proposal development process to ensure timely completion and submission of high quality proposal that meets donor expectations, including verification and accuracy of supporting documents


Project Management of BD activities:




  • Implementation of the Country Pilot Programme: Local set-up (including landscape analysis, where required), tracking implementation, monitoring / reporting, and troubleshooting – reporting back to CD and Global BD Lead




  • Planning and Coordination:



    • Assessment of Partner portfolio vs. BD targets, support development of new partners

    • Input into Country Strategic Planning

    • Coordinate BD plans with Initiatives

    • Communicate status updates and collaborate with Institutional Donors (ID) on progress against BD goals and donor lead




  • Coordinate and lead the set up and collaboration mechanisms with programme teams during the proposal development stage;




Donor Development, Relationship Management & Networking:



  • Relationship management and Networking with donors and strategic partner contacts in Nigeria

  • Opportunity-identification and horizon-scanning for new strategic prospects within core donor set

  • Track calls for proposals and other opportunities, judge the relevancy along with CD, Country Programme Manager (CPM), Institutional Donors and Philanthropy (IDP)

  • Think in opportunities while pinpointing and contacting potential consortium partners;

  • Play a key role in initiating, building and coordinating new partnerships leading to concrete fundraising results;

  • Represent the organisation and participate in network and alliance meetings, events and forums

  • Ensure effective information flow and communication with other stakeholders including partners and international teams


Capacity-Building:



  • Setup and Implementation of capacity-building and strengthening activities within Country Office and fostering lateral learning.


Requirements



  • Minimum Master’s degree in social sciences, or law, economics, international development, or another related field.

  • Minimum professional experience often (10) years in international NGOs and/or multilateral or government agencies, with a proven track record and relevant networks in the field of inclusive social protection

  • Demonstrated experience in managing internal and external relationships and official representation, particularly with government, international institutional donor agencies and other relevant stakeholders in the field of social protection.

  • Proven experience in results-based management and project cycle management, including assessment, monitoring and evaluation of international development programmes

  • Experience of developing rights-based programmes and working with marginalized and vulnerable groups

  • Person with lived experience of disability advantageous

  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills and teamwork

  • English (Professional Proficiency)

  • French, German other language (Advantageous)

  • Proficient in MS Office package

  • Well-developed analytical and complex problem-solving skills, with a solution based approach

  • Experience-driven knowledge of the development sector and critical cross-cutting themes such as gender mainstreaming, inclusion and advocacy

  • Ability to prioritize and manage demanding workloads

  • Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner

  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching

  • Highly organized, with an appreciation of meeting reporting commitments

  • Demonstrated learning agility, pro-activeness and openness to embrace new technologies at work

  • Identification with CBM’s mandates and values.


Languages



  • English Professional proficiency

  • Fluent speaking in local languages knowledge is an advantage
