Copywriter & Editorial Director duties and responsibilities
- Plan and implement editorial calendar.
- Develop and share all the written guidelines.
- Determine sources for publications.
- Always stay consistent with the company’s tone and mission.
- Write clean, concise, well-polished content.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends.
- Coordinate online or print publishing cycle and manage content areas.
- Set publication standards and establish goals and expectations.
- Suggest stories and generate headline ideas in alignment with the targeted audience’s preferences.
- Proofread, edit, and improve the written content.
- Comply with media law and ethical guidelines.
- Meet set deadlines.
- Write clear, attractive copy with a distinct voice.
- Interpret copywriting briefs to understand project requirements.
- Collaborate with all divisions on large- and small-scale marketing projects (e.g., email campaigns and landing pages)
- Conduct high-quality research and interviews.
- Edit and proofread copy as needed.
- Use SEO principles to maximize copy’s reach.
- Source images and other content.
Copywriter & Editorial Director requirements
- BSc/BA in marketing, English, journalism, or a related field
- MSc would be an added advantage.
- 5 years of experience as a copywriter or editor
- Experience in advertisement, newspaper, publishing, or media house
- An eye for detail along with critical thinking
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Creative, Critical-thinker and problem-solver
- Strong writing/editing/proofreading skills and an excellent portfolio
- Hands-on experience with MS Office or other publishing tools
- Proven familiarity with SEO and social media best practices
- Excellent written skills in English
- Prioritizing, multi-tasking, time-management, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of online content strategy and creation
- Strong research skills
