We are looking for a dynamic, resilient and experienced Head of People to lead and oversee the People Operations team at Deimos. In this role, you will collaborate with senior business leaders to develop and drive a people strategy that enables Deimos to reach key business objectives. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of People Operations and ensure that all people related policies and processes focus on supporting and improving the employee experience across the entire employee lifecycle.


You will report to the Chief Operating Officer. This is a fully remote role based in South Africa, Nigeria or Kenya.


What you will be doing:



  • Lead and manage a team of People Ops professionals responsible for talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee engagement, and general people operations.

  • Take ownership for ensuring the Deimos culture is enhanced through small or large scale, high impact initiatives.

  • Ensure that all our cultural values remain embedded within Deimos and inform our company wide practices, processes and ways of working.

  • Integrate with, and enhance a company-wide People Operations policies, practices, processes, and tooling to support our continuing growth.

  • Partner with the senior leadership team to identify and address people-related issues and opportunities.

  • Monitor and report on key people related metrics, including employee engagement, retention, and turnover, and use this data to inform the overall people strategy and decisions.

  • Be an expert advisor and enabling coach to managers, and provide the relevant leadership training as needed. 

  • Take responsibility for Deimos’ Total Reward Strategy and the policies and procedures related to remuneration management.

  • Champion, live and enhance the Deimos values.


What you must have:



  • Relevant qualifications in Human Resources Management, Organisational psychology, or related field.

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience within a senior HR/People Operations position.

  • Proven experience managing a high performing HR/People Operations team that covers all focus areas of HR/People Operations.

  • Experience working within a fast-growing start-up in the Technology industry is preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge in HR best practices, compliance and labour legislation and regulations.

  • Proven ability to develop strong, trusting relationships with the business and key stakeholders.

  • Proven track record of developing, implementing and optimising HR policies and programs that promote a positive employee experience within a fast paced and dynamic organisation. 

  • Strong analytical capability, preferably with experience in people analytics and the capacity to turn insights into measurable action.

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
