Position Overview:


The Store Keeper plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient inventory management and smooth operations within the construction company. The primary responsibility of the Store Keeper is to oversee the receipt, storage, issuance, and record-keeping of materials and equipment required for construction projects. They are responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring the availability of materials as per project requirements.


Key Responsibilities:


Inventory Management:



  • Receive, inspect, and record all incoming materials, supplies, and equipment.

  • Ensure proper storage and organization of materials to prevent damage, spoilage, or loss.

  • Maintain accurate records of stock levels, inventory movements, and consumption.

  • Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile them with the inventory records.

  • Identify slow-moving or obsolete items and take necessary actions to minimize wastage.


Material Issuance and Replenishment:



  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to understand material requirements.

  • Prepare and issue materials and equipment as per approved requests and work orders.

  • Ensure timely replenishment of stock to avoid shortages and project delays.

  • Monitor stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions based on demand and consumption trends.


Supplier Coordination:



  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.

  • Obtain competitive quotes, negotiate prices, and select reliable suppliers.

  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any issues related to quality or quantity.

  • Verify invoices and ensure accuracy before processing payments.


Documentation and Reporting:



  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of all materials transactions, including receipts, issuances, and returns.

  • Generate regular reports on stock levels, consumption, and inventory status.

  • Provide timely reports and updates to the management regarding stock availability and potential issues.


Safety and Compliance:



  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and guidelines while handling materials and equipment.

  • Maintain proper storage conditions, including temperature control, for specific materials if required.

  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements.


Requirements:



  • BSc in a related field. Additional certification in inventory management or related field is a plus.

  • Must have a vast knowledge on plumbing and electrical materials used for construction (This is important)

  • Proven experience of 5-10 years as a Store Keeper or similar role in a construction company

  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and procedures.

  • Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and equipment.

  • Proficiency in using computerized inventory management systems and MS Office applications.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
