Description

• Provide technical support on implementation of PROSSIVA banana research activities in Nigeria, with a focus on Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) technology, seed health and quality assurance.


• Assist with field sample collection and processing for AMF isolation, purification, characterization and mass production.


• Assist with the AMF priming of plantain seedlings, efficacy trial design and management in screen house and field conditions.


• Ensure nematode propagation using carrot discs for inoculum preparation for trials


• Ensure trials troubleshooting and data collection (spores’ density, mycorrhization index and plant growth parameters, nematode count) using digital tools.


• Perform data curation and data analysis and provide trials output.


• Contribute to research on quality assurance schemes and seed health management.


• Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the Supervisor

QUALIFICATION:

• BSc/HND in Crop protection, Agronomy or any other related field with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate must:

• Have excellent oral and writing communication skills in English.


• Have report writing skills.
