Job Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze information about newsworthy events
- Evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas
- Edit and/or assist in editing and proofreading
- Report and write news stories for publication or broadcast, describing the background and details of events.
- Arrange interviews with people who can provide information about a particular story.
- Review copy and correct errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines.
- Review and evaluate notes taken about event aspects in order to isolate pertinent facts and details.
- Determine a story's emphasis, length, and format, and organize material accordingly.
Skills/Competence Requirement
- Degree in journalism, communication, or related field
- Minimum 5 years' of professional experience in journalism with increasing levels of responsibility
- Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Outstanding ability to write and copy edit all digital content
- To have a broad understanding of current global news trends and issues
