Job Description



As a farm attendant responsible for the fish pond, you will be tasked with ensuring the optimal care and growth of the fish population. Your role will involve performing various tasks to maintain the health and productivity of the pond. You will work closely with farm supervisors or managers to implement best practices and achieve production targets.


Responsibilities:



  • Daily monitoring: Regularly inspect the fish pond to assess water quality, temperature, and oxygen levels, ensuring they are within acceptable ranges.

  • Feeding and nutrition: Feed the fish on a prescribed schedule, ensuring they receive appropriate nutrition and monitoring their feeding habits and growth patterns.

  • Water management: Conduct regular water changes and maintain proper water filtration and aeration systems to ensure a healthy environment for the fish.

  • Disease prevention and treatment: Monitor fish health and promptly identify signs of diseases or parasites. Administer necessary treatments and implement preventive measures to minimize the risk of infections.

  • Stock management: Assist in the procurement of fish stock, including transportation, acclimatization, and introduction to the pond. Maintain accurate records of fish inventory and growth rates.

  • Harvesting and processing: Coordinate with the farm team to plan and execute fish harvests. Assist in the sorting, weighing, and packaging of harvested fish according to established procedures.

  • Equipment maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain equipment, such as nets, pumps, aerators, and feeding systems. Report any malfunctioning equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.

  • Record-keeping: Maintain detailed records of daily activities, including water parameters, feeding schedules, medication usage, and other relevant data. Compile reports as required.

  • Safety and compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and maintain compliance with relevant health and safety regulations. Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals and equipment.

  • Team collaboration: Work closely with other farm attendants and supervisors, assisting in other farm operations as needed.
