Job Brief

• This is specialized manual work in the milking and caring for dairy cattle (500 COWS). Work in this class involves milking, cleaning, feeding, and caring for dairy cattle.


• An employee in this class performs shift work to accommodate milking schedules and performs general farming maintenance and other tasks as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs shift work in the milking of dairy cattle.


• Operates a truck in transporting milk and other specialized equipment used in general farming operations.


• Cares for dairy cattle including cleaning and feeding.


• Observes dairy cattle for any signs of sickness or disorders.


• Performs general maintenance on dairy facilities.


• Maintains sanitary conditions in all dairy facilities.


• Performs related work as required.

Education and Experience

• 5 - 7 years experience in general farming and dairy farming; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.


• Some knowledge of the care of dairy cattle.


• Some knowledge of the use and maintenance of dairy equipment.


• Ability to recognize and report cattle sickness and disorders.


• Ability to maintain sanitary living conditions for dairy cattle.


• Ability to work split shifts to accommodate milking schedules.


• Skill in the care and handling of dairy cattle.
