The role holder’s primary responsibility will be to oversee and optimize the day-to-day operations of our client’s business. The role holder will also be responsible for leading a team of operations personnel, develop operational strategies, and ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of services. The role holder will be responsible for driving operational excellence, meeting customer expectations, and achieving business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and optimize day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of services.
- Lead and manage a team of operations personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure operational excellence and adherence to industry standards.
- Develop and implement effective operational strategies, policies, and procedures to improve productivity, minimize costs, and maximize customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and analyse key operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as sales, finance, and customer service, to align operational objectives with overall company goals and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and industry standards, and implement necessary measures to mitigate operational risks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, streamline processes, and leverage technology to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with key vendors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure quality, cost-effective services and materials.
- Act as a point of escalation for operational issues, resolving conflicts, and ensuring timely resolution of customer complaints or inquiries.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent qualification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the logistics/trucking business, with at least 3 years in a senior management position overseeing business operations.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and optimizing operations in the logistics/trucking industry.
- Strong understanding of operational processes, including fleet management, routing, scheduling, and warehousing.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse workforce.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding practical and efficient solutions.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyse data and trends to drive operational improvements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards in the logistics/trucking industry.
