Domestic Help Duties and Responsibilities


MAID/CLEANER



  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment

  • Sweep, wax, or polish floors, using brooms, mops, and other floor-cleaning equipment

  • Lift and move lightweight objects and equipment

  • Clean rooms, hallways, and other living or work areas

  • Change sheets and towels; make beds; and wash, fold, and iron clothes

  • Vacuum rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture

  • Empty wastebaskets and take trash to disposal areas

  • Replenish supplies, such as soap and toilet paper

  • Clean and polish windows, walls, and woodwork


NANNY



  • Organize creative activities and educational games (e.g. drawing, crafting and puppet games)

  • Prepare children’s meals and feed them (including bottle-feeding for babies)

  • Change diapers and bathe infants

  • Help older children wash up and take baths

  • Schedule nap times

  • Teach children appropriate social behaviors, such as being respectful to each other and helping out with chores

  • Transport children to and from school and extracurricular activities

  • Tidy up play areas and children’s rooms

  • Assist young students with homework

  • Ensure children’s safety during indoors and outdoors activities

  • Take care of children in case of injury or illness

  • Perform housekeeping tasks as needed

  • Work with parents to ensure children’s growth and social development


COOK



  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)

  • Cook food in various utensils or grillers

  • Check food while cooking to stir or turn

  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served

  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen

  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

  • Check quality of ingredients

  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages


CAREGIVER



  • Help clients take prescribed medication

  • Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)

  • Assist clients with personal care and hygiene

  • Help clients with physical therapy exercises

  • Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)

  • Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop

  • Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own

  • Be a pleasant and supportive companion

  • Report any unusual incidents

  • Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency


Domestic Help Requirements / Skills / Qualifications



  • WASC/GCE/NECO

  • Caregiver may require medical certification

  • Proven experience as a domestic help/maid, cook, cleaner, nanny, steward or housekeeper

  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance

  • Customer-oriented and friendly

  • Prioritization and time management skills

  • Working quickly without compromising quality

  • Knowledge of Employer's language
