Domestic Help Duties and Responsibilities
MAID/CLEANER
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment
- Sweep, wax, or polish floors, using brooms, mops, and other floor-cleaning equipment
- Lift and move lightweight objects and equipment
- Clean rooms, hallways, and other living or work areas
- Change sheets and towels; make beds; and wash, fold, and iron clothes
- Vacuum rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture
- Empty wastebaskets and take trash to disposal areas
- Replenish supplies, such as soap and toilet paper
- Clean and polish windows, walls, and woodwork
NANNY
- Organize creative activities and educational games (e.g. drawing, crafting and puppet games)
- Prepare children’s meals and feed them (including bottle-feeding for babies)
- Change diapers and bathe infants
- Help older children wash up and take baths
- Schedule nap times
- Teach children appropriate social behaviors, such as being respectful to each other and helping out with chores
- Transport children to and from school and extracurricular activities
- Tidy up play areas and children’s rooms
- Assist young students with homework
- Ensure children’s safety during indoors and outdoors activities
- Take care of children in case of injury or illness
- Perform housekeeping tasks as needed
- Work with parents to ensure children’s growth and social development
COOK
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
- Cook food in various utensils or grillers
- Check food while cooking to stir or turn
- Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Check quality of ingredients
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
CAREGIVER
- Help clients take prescribed medication
- Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)
- Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
- Help clients with physical therapy exercises
- Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
- Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop
- Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
- Be a pleasant and supportive companion
- Report any unusual incidents
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
Domestic Help Requirements / Skills / Qualifications
- WASC/GCE/NECO
- Caregiver may require medical certification
- Proven experience as a domestic help/maid, cook, cleaner, nanny, steward or housekeeper
- Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance
- Customer-oriented and friendly
- Prioritization and time management skills
- Working quickly without compromising quality
- Knowledge of Employer's language
