Job Summary



  • The Network Engineer plays a critical role in the telecommunication company, ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and optimization of network infrastructure.

  • This position involves designing, implementing, and supporting network systems, protocols, and technologies to deliver reliable and high-performance telecommunications services. The Network Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and deliver exceptional network performance.


Key Responsibilities



  • Design, plan, and implement network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices, to support telecommunication services.

  • Configure and optimize network protocols, including TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and VLANs.

  • Monitor network performance and identify potential issues or bottlenecks, proactively taking measures to ensure network reliability and performance.

  • Conduct regular network assessments and capacity planning to accommodate growing business needs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop network solutions that meet business requirements.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents and problems, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to services.

  • Perform network maintenance tasks, such as firmware upgrades, patch management, and device configurations.

  • Implement and enforce network security measures, including firewalls, access control, and intrusion detection systems.

  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, procedures, and configurations.

  • Stay updated on emerging network technologies and industry best practices, recommending network enhancements and optimizations.

Academic Quantification



  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field is typically required for a Network Engineer role.

  • Relevant certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS), are highly desirable.


Experience:



  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience in a Telecommunications Company or Internet Service Provider with a fair knowledge of Internet Leased Line, Leased Line, Home Broadband, FTTH, FTTX, VoIP, IPTV and Telecommunications Operations.


Skills Required:



  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and architectures.

  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.

  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

  • Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) for network automation is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with telecommunication-specific technologies, such as VoIP, SIP, or mobile networks, is a plus.


Knowledge Required:



  • In-depth understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and VLANs.

  • Knowledge of network devices and technologies, such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.

  • Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools like Wireshark, SNMP, and NetFlow analyzers.

  • Understanding network security principles, including firewalls, access control, and encryption protocols.

  • Knowledge of telecommunication-specific technologies, such as VoIP, SIP, or mobile networks.
