Position Summary



  • We are recruiting a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team of professionals. As an Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of Protergia and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial records of all its subsidiaries and projects.

  • To ensure success in this position, the Accountant should possess extensive knowledge of both administrative and accounting principles, and demonstrate experience in a similar role.


Duties / Responsibilities



  • Maintain and update all financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets to provide accurate and timely financial information.

  • Monitor cash flows, prepare cash forecasts, and manage cash disbursements.

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial projections.

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including data entry, invoice processing, and expense tracking.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations.

  • Utilize QuickBooks Online to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

  • Maintain an organized digital filing system on Google drive.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for project funding, grants, and audits.

  • Support the preparation of financial statements and reports for statutory audits.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.

  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.

  • Proficiently use QuickBooks Online, Wrike, and Google Workspace to manage financial transactions, track project activities, and collaborate with team members.

  • Prepare in-depth analysis of financial data to produce relevant information for Management.

  • Updating daily transaction records and assisting with payroll administration.

  • Preparing income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and budgets.

  • Resolving account discrepancies and performing account reconciliations.

  • Preparing financial reports, including projected returns on investment and growth rates.

  • Identifying financial liabilities and performing risk analysis on liquidity and cash flow.

  • Interface with regulatory agencies: FIRS, LIRS, NSITF, ITF, DPR, NAPIMS e.t.c.


Position Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Certified Accountant (e.g., ACCA) with a valid professional membership is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as an Accountant.

  • Experience or demonstrated familiarity with joint venture accounting, as well as consolidated group and subsidiary accounting standards

  • Experience in the renewable energy sector is preferred, but not mandatory.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Proficiency in using accounting software, especially QuickBooks Online.

  • Familiarity with project management tools like Wrike is desirable.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for financial analysis.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
