Job description:

• The Lab Technician role is responsible for supporting the medical Scientists professionals in medical research, testing and laboratory maintenance.


• Collection and labelling of medical samples (blood, stool, urine etc.)


• recording data.


• sterilizing equipment’s.


• testing, analysing, recording and reporting test results.  


• safely storing samples to be tested


• performing tests needed for the analysis and report of samples.


• Organizing and storing samples in accordance with all safety requirements.


• Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs.


• perform quality-control tests and audit lab logbooks to ensure proper procedures.


• maintains an understanding of biohazard safety and dispose of hazardous waste.

Employment Type:

• Full time (Shift duty).

Reporting line:

• This role reports to the head, Pathology laboratory.

Skills & Competencies:

• Efficient, detail oriented / attention to detail is critical.


• Excellent/ good oral and written communication skills.


• Ability to work both independently and with others.


• Good team player.


• Attention to detail and good organizational skills


• Ability to work with automated/ semi-automated laboratory machines.


• Able to follow instructions and strictly follow standard operating procedures.


• Demonstrates sufficient computer skills, (Excel, Word etc.).


• Experience with lab documentation, use of electronic medical record (EMR), would be an added advantage.


• Experience with operating standard lab equipment  

Academic Qualifications:  

• An OND in medical laboratory science, from an accredited college.
