Job summary:


We are seeking an Import/Export & Logistics Assistant to join our agro-allied business in Nigeria. The ideal candidate will be assisting the Operation Manager for ensuring the efficient movement of goods through import and export procedures. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting the Operation Manager in logistics and transportation activities locally to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.


Key responsibilities


Import/export operations:



  • Work through the all process of IMPORT: from Supplier Order to delivery of the warehouse

  • Work in relation with Finance dpt. / Clearing agent / Shipping line / Logistic and fulfill all steps required to make the import process smooth, cost and time efficient and compliant

  • Review paperwork and documents to ensure shipping, receiving, and inventory accuracy

  • Collect quotation and work closely with most cost effective shipphing line / clearing agent

  • Maintain accurate records of all import and export activities.

  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics service providers to ensure timely delivery of goods

  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate inventory management and timely order fulfillment.

  • Assist in the coordination and execution of import and export activities, including documentation, customs clearance, and transportation arrangements

  • Prepare and verify shipping documents, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, NXP, FORM M, PAAR and other necessary documentation for customs clearance and CBN compliance, Import/Export

  • Keep and ensure that all permits of importation and exportation, certificates are up-to-date and compliant with law


Regulatory compliance:



  • Stay updated with import/export regulations, trade policies, and customs procedures to ensure compliance.

  • Assist in obtaining the required permits, licenses, and certifications for international shipments.

  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation to customs authorities, ensuring adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor changes in import/export laws and regulations and communicate any relevant updates to the team.

  • Assist operation manager in all logistic related issues:

  • Provide assistance to the Operations Manager in expediting all logistics operations

  • Facilitate vendor and carrier relationships

  • Participate in the process flow for all stock operations

  • Assist the Operations Manager in assigned tasks to ensure smooth logistics processes

  • Coordinate with warehouses and distribution centers to ensure timely and accurate receipt and dispatch of goods.

  • Track and report inventory levels, making recommendations for replenishment when necessary.

  • Handle and resolve any logistics-related issues, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies in shipments.


Qualifications and skills


Theoretical and practical knowledge:



  • B.S c in Import / Export and logistic related fields

  • 10 years of work experience in an IMPORT / EXPORT desk

  • Certificates and training in export / import process will be an added advantage

  • Technical and methodological know-how:

  • Mastery office automation tools (Solid proficiency in Microsoft office: excel, word, power point)

  • Strong ERP Knowledge in stock management

  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills

  • Understanding of International business culture

  • Demonstrates strong adaptability in handling administrative matters involving customs, port authorities, NAFDAC, and other relevant entities
