About The Job



  • Category Marketing Manager will be responsible for strategizing and implementing the Organization's marketing plans for the category, delivering agreed targets for Volume, Net Sales, CO% (Gross Margin) and ROS% (OI).

  • This is a leadership role that will also ensure implementation of agreed projects through other members of the team.


The ideal candidate will be



  • Developing the marketing strategy for the category in line with company objectives.

  • Leading and managing the career and development of direct reports.

  • Building brand equity measures (Brand Power, Salience, Distinctiveness, Meaningfulness)

  • Co-ordinating marketing campaigns with sales activities.

  • Overseeing the company’s marketing budget.

  • Creation and publication of all marketing material in line with marketing plans.

  • Planning and implementing promotional campaigns, new launches,

  • Manage and improve lead generation campaigns, measuring results.

  • Overall responsibility for brand management


About you


You should be able to



  • Understand strategy development in the context of the organization and is able to execute flawlessly.

  • Understand the role of consumer marketing in generating demand, and the role of category revenue growth management.

  • Have a full understanding of Danone's categories, products and services, as well as the difference in approach for a customer base organization versus a custom/stockholder corporation

  • Know the organization's mission, goals and strategic business plan

  • Have a working knowledge and experience in media buying, media relations and public relations, as well as print houses, broadcast and print media, outdoor advertising media, and distribution channels


Education & Experience



  • BA/BSc in marketing.

  • Masters Degree/MBA (preferred)

  • Strong analytical and project management skills.

  • 10-12 years experience in Brand management, preferably with FMCG work experience.

  • Confident and dynamic personality.

  • Mobility to travel across the West Africa region (25-30% of the time)

  • Strong creative outlook.

  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
