Operates compressor engines involved in the compression and processing of natural gas.
To maintain, operate, test and monitor the operation and performance of reciprocating and centrifugal chillers, chiller components and supporting equipment such as chilled and evaporator water pumps, cooling towers, pneumatic and vacuum air systems, air handling equipment, life/safety systems, motors, etc
Operate or maintain stationary engines, boilers, or other mechanical equipment to provide utilities for buildings or industrial processes. Operate equipment such as steam engines, generators, motors, turbines, and steam boilers.
Operating and maintaining cooling tower equipment to ensure that they are working properly
Inspecting the mechanical equipment in facilities to ensure proper operation
Performing routine maintenance on cooling towers, including cleaning and repairing pumps, compressors, and evaporators
Maintaining records of equipment use for billing purposes
Installing new cooling equipment when needed
Determining the appropriate size of a system based on the size of the building or facility and its cooling requirements
Repairing small mechanical breakdowns such as leaks or clogs in pipes
Monitoring the operation of cooling towers to ensure that they are operating within safe limits
Determining when repairs are needed and coordinating with contractors who perform the repairs
Troubleshoot and perform diagnostics on malfunctioning compressors, determine possible causes for malfunctions, and perform repairs as suggested by diagnostics and assessment.
Install, calibrate, inspect, service, and repair cooling tower machinery.
Requirements
SSCE,OND, HND or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a cooling tower operator
High school diploma or Some employers may require technicians to have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in refrigeration technology or a related field.
