General Responsibilities

Surveillance Monitoring:



  • The primary duty of a CCTV officer is to monitor live and recorded footage from surveillance cameras. They observe the screens and pay attention to any suspicious or unusual activities that may pose a security threat.


Incident Detection and Response:



  • Responsible for detecting incidents or security breaches through surveillance footage. Should promptly alert the appropriate personnel, such as security guards, law enforcement, or emergency services, about any suspicious activities, accidents, or emergencies.


System Operation and Maintenance:



  • Responsible for operating and maintaining the CCTV systems.

  • This includes setting up and configuring cameras, monitors, recording equipment, and other related devices.

  • They should ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.


Documentation and Reporting:



  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, observations, and any relevant information.

  • May create incident reports, logbooks, or other documentation as required by their organisation.

  • Should also ensure that recorded footage is properly stored and catalogued for future reference


Collaboration with Security Personnel:



  • Work closely with security guards or other security personnel.

  • Provide support by relaying information, coordinating responses, and assisting in investigations.

  • Effective communication and collaboration are essential to ensure a coordinated security approach.


Compliance with Policies and Regulations:



  • Must adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and organisational policies governing surveillance and privacy.

  • Should be aware of the legal limitations and ethical considerations associated with surveillance activities, ensuring that their actions align with these guidelines.


Training and Awareness



  • Responsible for training security personnel or other staff members on the proper use of surveillance systems, as well as the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

  • May conduct awareness campaigns or provide guidelines on best practices for utilising the CCTV system effectively.


Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree BSc or Higher National Diploma HND in a relevant field.

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a CCTV Operator or in a similar role.

  • Proficient in operating and controlling CCTV systems, with knowledge of different camera types and setups.

  • Familiarity with security protocols and procedures.

  • Good understanding of privacy laws and regulations related to CCTV operation.

  • Excellent communication skills, report writing & listening skills

  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.

  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Military background would be a plus
