Job Description



Responsibilities:



  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate patients' physical abilities, limitations, and functional goals.

  • Develop individualised treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and evidence-based practice.

  • Implement and administer a range of therapeutic interventions, such as manual therapy, exercise programs, electrotherapy, 

  • Monitor and track patients' progress throughout the course of treatment, adjusting intervention strategies as needed.

  • Educate patients and their families on self-management techniques, home exercise programs, and injury prevention strategies.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards, ensuring patient confidentiality and respecting cultural and individual diversity.

  • Stay informed about the latest developments and research in physiotherapy practice through continuous professional development.


Requirements


The requirements listed below are representative of the Knowledge, Skill and/or ability required to perform this job satisfactorily:



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy from a recognised institution.

  • Valid licence to practise as a Physiotherapist in Nigeria.

  • Acupuncture/Acupressure skill,  (preferable but not required)

  • Membership in relevant professional associations or bodies is an added advantage

  • Proven experience, working as a Physiotherapist, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting.

  • Training in a specific area of physiotherapy practice, such as orthopaedics, musculoskeletal, neurology, or sports rehabilitation.

  • Strong knowledge of orthopaedic/musculoskeletal, neurology, sports, work related conditions, and associated rehabilitation protocols.

  • Proficiency in conducting thorough assessments, formulating treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based interventions.

  • Excellent manual therapy skills and the ability to apply a variety of therapeutic techniques.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams.

  • Empathy, compassion, and a patient-centred approach to care.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent time management and organisational skills.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer literacy.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
