Formal Responsibilities

• Ensure to improve the performance of existing water-based product formulations and manufacturing processes in line with production realities to reduce production time, costs and improve market responsiveness


• Prepares standards and specifications for water-based products and processes


• Ensure reformulation of products are done periodically to improve performance and optimize cost


• Ensure periodic competitive water-based products evaluation for products are carried out to ensure the sustenance of the company’s competitive edge


• Proactively monitor, investigate and resolve issues relating to water-based product performance.


• Carry out extensive parameter tests on reformulated water-based products


• Updates technical records, solvent based finished products test specifications and technical Advice Notes (TAN)


• Maintain Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Safety Data Sheets SDS) for all water-based products


• Ensure all laboratory equipment function optimally at all times and follow up with relevant departments for the servicing and calibration when due.


• Maintain a clean, safe and organized laboratory area and ensure adherence to the safety requirements for working in the R&D laboratory.


• Conduct product knowledge training for relevant staff as required.


• Create water-based formulations on SAP

Main tasks

• Develop customized colours for water-based products as requested by customers


• Visits customers’ sites as assigned for professional evaluation of projects and provides technical support for the resolution of identified issues


• Anticipates, recognizes and resolves technical issues which arise during water-based product formulation development, evaluating alternatives and initiates corrective actions through research and well formulated, logical experimentation


• Carries out research to identify new technologies in water-based line to optimize the production of the company’s water-based products


• Prepare water-based product test specifications
