Summary



  • Responsible for developing more cost-effective ways of trading agricultural products by researching and experimenting with plant yields, commodities and cash crops, and farm project management.

  • Focused on basic research by understanding the processes behind the growth of crops and animals and applied research by turning that knowledge into practical methods for improving food quality.

  • Must communicate the advantages of their findings to colleagues, managers, and the public through reports and presentations.


Job Function



  • Responsible for studying and assessing agricultural productivity, ensuring all agricultural elements that go into food production are not only productive in nature but are safe.

  • Conduct research on commodities aimed at improving trading techniques to enhance the efficiency and profitability of agribusiness, and apply the results to tasks such as increasing product sourcing and yields to the business.

  • Develop strategies and logistics in agricultural commodities initiatives.

  • Conduct tests, collate and analyze samples and compile reports on any number of factors that affect agricultural commodities trading, using these reports to inform future trade, suppliers, etc., of potential improvements to be made.

  • Study, assess, and evaluate productivity.

  • Study the effects of different commodity techniques and varying environmental factors that also affect outputs.

  • Develop/design and implement scientific methods in agricultural commodities trends and field experiments to solve issues.

  • Educate growers/suppliers and other agriculturalists on scientific trading methods. Liaise without growers/suppliers and other stakeholders.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with other traders.

  • Develop solutions for complex problems in the field and trading issues.

  • Study and develop newer methods in processes relating to agricultural product trading.

  • Writing proposals for research and business purposes.

  • Ensuring all work meets legislative and compliance requirements.

  • Aggregate products and coordinate operations to deliver to clients

  • Network potential suppliers across the countries to expand the company's reach.

  • Inter-phase with clients on shipment of product documentation.

  • Oversees the running of the warehouse operations.

  • Manage supplier's related issues on deliveries and timelessness of operations.


Requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science is the minimum requirement, master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in a relative field.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the agricultural commodity world. Candidate must know how it relates to food production, looking at efficiencies and ways to improve the process.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel & Powerpoint.

  • Strong understanding of the market – by performing research and keeping up with industry trends.
