JOB DESCRIPTION


The Africa West Area Welfare and Self-Reliance department is seeking a seasoned mental health professional based in Nigeria, who provides high quality clinical consultation to Church leaders, develops, and maintains Church-sponsored programs, and identifies resources to help Church members. This is a permanent full-time position, reporting to the Area Family Services Specialist or to the Area Welfare and Self-Reliance Manager. 


RESPONSIBILITIES


Under moderate supervision:



  • Consultation with Church Leaders: Deliver high-quality consultation and maintain positive relations with Church leaders on behavioral and mental health issues. 

  • Clinical Services: Provide skilled and professional assessment, diagnostic and treatment services for a wide range of relational, behavioural, and mental health conditions. 

  • Community Resource Development: Identify and access competent community resource partners. Maintain an effective, quality, and collegial community resource network. 

  • Missionary Services: Provide exceptional clinical services and coordination of missionary services: pre-mission assessment, support for in field and early return missionaries. 

  • Professional and Legal Compliance: Ensure legal, ethical and policy compliance with all aspects of Family Services Program offering within the assigned region. Protect and ensure client confidentiality.

  • Team Builder: engaged member of the team who maintains a supportive relationship with all the staff: able to provide and receive honest feedback.

  • WSR Department: Collaborate with the Welfare and Self-Reliance Manager to develop and fulfill a 'whole area service plan' including supporting and developing welfare and self-reliance resources and strategies.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Master’s degree in clinical psychology, clinical social work, or related degree.

  • At least 5 years of progressive work experience with advanced clinical skills in counseling, people management, leadership and clinical supervision. 

  • Hold and maintain current independent clinical licensure in accordance with local professional licensing board.

  • Must possess excellent communication, written and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to provide effective executive-level presentations and proposals, with the ability to adapt to different populations, cultures, countries, or backgrounds.  

  • Expertise and experience providing training in group settings on a range of mental health services and best practices.

  • Strong personal work ethic.

  • Ability to work independently, develop/build relationships and network with Church and community leaders and organizations.

  • Strong understanding of the Church organisation and alignment to the doctrine and principles of the Church, and Church leadership experience.

  • A willingness to travel and have the flexibility to work in the evenings and on the weekend when needed.

  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and associated packages and Microsoft Programs.

  • Possess valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a passport if/whennecessary (desirable).

  • Knowledge about Family Services programs and resources preferred.

  • Must be worthy of a temple recommend
